A Bit About Us
Convoy For Kids Inc. are a group of truckies and ordinary people helping special kids with Asthma and other life threatening diseases.

Convoy For Kids Inc®. charity was formed in 1992, by Maggie and Andy Bourke, who lost their young son to Asthma. Andy was a truck driver so they got a group of truckies together to help raise much needed funds.
Australia has one of the highest death rates in the World of children with Asthma, which many people are unaware of.

Convoy For Kids Inc was re-structured a number of years ago, putting a strategic plan in place to ensure that the charity is run as per our new constitution.
Please visit our Legals page for further information.

As a non-profit organization, we will always face a need for sponsorship and support. The financial support needed for this task is always a challenge.

Proceeds are for Childhood Asthma health promotion and awareness plus other Special Kids also with Life Threatening Diseases and Disabilities. We also supply necessary aids and equipment to low income families of children with life threatening diseases and disabilities when possible.

Please CLICK HERE for a list of proceeds which Convoy For Kids Inc® have given to the Asthma Foundation of Victoria over the years for Research programs.

As we receive NO Government funding, Convoy For Kids Inc® totally depend on the kind and generous support of Companies, Businesses and the general community at large to continue it's:

** free-of-charge publications and distribution of leaflets, brochures and other health informational papers.
** supplying aids and equipment to children with a disability when possible.
** highly-successful Annual Convoy For Kids Day for people of all ages.
** maintaining of ongoing public awareness about childhood asthma and other special kids.
** Assisting families who have recently lost a child due to Asthma or another Life Threatening Disease.
** helping other special and/or needy children where possible.
** have a National Hotline for information and support 7 days a week 365 days a year.
** helping raise Road Safety Awareness to help reduce the road death toll and permanent disabilities and injuries.

Our Annual Convoy For Kids Day Appeal day is for all children (and people of all ages), plus our other functions during the year, results in honest conversations about organizational impact for sick kids. When people can have these conversations and see the future of our efforts, we have truly succeeded in achieving our goals each year. Anything over and above our goals are an absolute bonus to helping sick children.
Demand is the indicator that Convoy For Kids Inc® ongoing good work is an integral part of helping special children. At the same time, we must acknowledge the importance of ensuring that our causes are very strongly supported and our Sponsors and Volunteer's needs are catered for.
Convoy For Kids Inc® has the stability of being in it’s 17th year.
Without the support of the Trucking and Transport Industries, Truckies and their families, companies, businesses, the media and the general public, this would not be possible.
We have established a foundation with the brilliant concept for all children (disabled or not) to be able to participate in, along with their parents or guardians, by giving all kids a huge, party/carnival atmosphere day each year, which is very strongly supported by families and individuals on the day. We have ongoing strategic plans in place to ensure the smooth transition of our goals each year, to sustain our growth in the years ahead.
Convoy For Kids Inc® members are totally voluntary.

Each year we hold a Convoy of trucks, cars and other vehicles parading along our highways and byways carrying children with a disability, plus able bodied kids, heading for a HUGE day of fun and excitement for all.
Our Annual Family day has Free Showbags for kids, Rides, Face Painters, Games, Famous characters and lots of FREE things for the Kids.

There is also a Monster BBQ, Huge Auction, Bands, Entertainers, stuff for the 'Big Kids', Trucks are judged and Trophies presented, plus much, much more.
Our website is the 1st Charity website in Australia to be Rated by ICRA (Internet Content Rating Association), plus we have received over 10 more Safe Surfing for Children Ratings.
Our Mascot 'Sami-Trook' (Safety Sami) was designed for Truckies and anyone else to carry in their vehicles. If you come across an accident on the roads and there are injured or traumatised children involved, you can give that child a 'Sami-Trook' for some security and we can *replace your Mascot. (*Conditions apply) *We require you to send us as many details about when and where the accident happened 'date and time' what emergency officials attended and if possible which hospital the occupants were taken to plus your details for us to verify a possible replacement, for your kindness in helping the injured or traumatised child/children. We have Sponsors who may replace 'Safety-Sami' if you cannot replace him at cost price yourself.
People carrying 'Sami-Trook' in their vehicles can also become 'Truckie Mates' which is free and promotes the driver as 'Road Safety Aware' on our roads. There is also a series of children's books about Sami-Trook's Worldwide Adventures plus other wonderful Sami-Trook Items coming out. You can read more about that on the 'Sami's Purpose' page.
What can we do for YOU in return for your Sponsorship and Support of childhood asthma awareness and other special kids causes? We want to help you for helping us with our Fundraising.

SIGNWRITING & SIGNS
Our truck signwriting, and all our other signs, are fully donated by 'Stoneage Signs', thanks to Dean, Trevor and Jamie Stone, who between them, have over 80 years of signwriting experience.
Truck Signage is an integral part of Stoneage Signs.
Truck Lining & Scrolling is a specialised field of signwriting. This type of signwriting is not taught through any apprenticeship or schooling, it's an art, and a dying art at that.
Not many signwriters can Line & Scroll Trucks, however, Trevor Stone has been Lining & Scrolling trucks for over 47 years and has passed on his skills to his 2 sons Dean & Jamie, so this dying art will be around for a long time to come.

Please remember to say that Convoy For Kids sent you, if you are wanting your truck sign written or for any other signwriting work.
