Another Special ‘Convoy Kid’ is now in Heaven : 31/12/1993 – 18/5/2008

One of our Special Convoy Kids, 14 year old Nigel, passed away on the 18th May.
Nigel was autistic and will be missed very much by his parents, family, brothers, sisters and all who came into contact with him.
Nigel’s most recent outing was coming into the Convoy stand at the International Truck show the week before he passed away. He had a great time with his brothers and sisters there, and he will be sadly missed. He also had a great time each year on Convoy For Kids Day. We will miss his cheeky smile and hugs.
Our very deepest condolences go to Karen, Wayne and Craig, Nigel's brothers and sisters, relatives and friends and his special schoolmates, (including all who came from Interstate for the funeral).

From the Convoy Team.
Karen and Craig are family members of Convoy For Kids Inc and requested ‘In Lieu of Flowers or Tributes’, that friends, family or Convoy members be kind enough to make a donation to Convoy For Kids Inc. to help other special kids. Many thanks for all the Gift-Donations made at Nigel's funeral, it is very much appreciated to help other special kids. Nigel's personal money box was also left to Convoy For Kids as a last wish from Nigel. Thanks little mate!
Gift-Donations can always be sent to:
CFK Memorial. PO Box 85. Park Orchards. 3114. Vic.
If a Tax Receipt is required, please supply your name your address and telephone number on the slip or with your posted gift.

Jake Hindhaugh - 1995 – 2007 (11 yrs old)

Convoy For Kids Executive Committee’s deepest and heartfelt condolences go out to Cheryl and Peter Hindhaugh, and Corey and Carlie on the loss of their 11 year old son and brother, Jake.
We also send our deepest condolences to all of Jake’s family, friends and his mates at the Yarra Glen Junior Football Club U12 team, and the Yarra Glen Primary School teachers and students.
Jake passed away 4 days after suffering a severe Asthma attack.
Jake had just got home after playing his 50th match with the Yarra Glen Junior Football Club U12 team on 15 April, when the attack began. Gasping for breath, Jake ran straight to his parents who immediately called an ambulance.
As fate would have it that day, both the Healesville and Lilydale ambulances were out - with the next available ambulance in Diamond Creek – almost half an hour away.
By the time the ambulance arrived, Jake had stopped breathing. While paramedics were able to resuscitate Jake, he had already sustained significant brain damage and fallen into a coma.
Jake died four days later, just one month before his 12th birthday.

Jake is another young life very sadly lost to Asthma, and the lack of an available ambulance.

Mufaro Young 1990 - 2007 (16 yrs old) USA

Dear Jan, please add this to your Memorial Tribute page on the convoy for kids website because ‘Teddy’ was such a special young teenager. His death was so sudden and we are all heartbroken. Paula and Bill have now lost 2 of their children to Asthma. Would you please light a candle for him. Many thanks and keep up your great work for children with asthma. Chris.

Jan Maher and Convoy For Kids Executive Committee send our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Paula, Bill, his brothers, sisters, family and friends, on the loss of their son, brother, and friend. Yet another young life very sadly taken far too soon.

Mufaro Young, 17, had suffered from chronic asthma since he was born. While he was getting ready for school on Wednesday morning (9th May), a sudden asthma attack left him gasping for air. He tried using his inhaler and nebulizer to clear his breathing while his family called 911.

He was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Mufaro was a soft-spoken young man who loved to help people, especially his mother. Mufaro’s mother (Paula) said he loved to cook and aspired to study the culinary arts, and if you needed him and he had something he could offer you, he did it. He'd go to school and come home and do his chores. He was a gentleman and.... he was just a really good kid.

Mufaro was a sophomore at Sandusky High School and two of his teachers described him as a good student who loved to do math and enjoyed the school's new money management program. Sandusky High School had six guidance counsellors on staff throughout the day Thursday to help grieving students cope with the loss of their classmate.
Mufaro leaves behind his mother (Paula) and father (William ‘Bill’), and 11 brothers and sisters (6 sisters and 5 brothers).
One of Mufaro’s sisters also died of an Asthma attack in 1992 when she was just 15 years old.
* A Message From Yasmin Valles
Mufaro was my classmate to he was a good friend to me. He was a nice person to hang around with. Every one loves him so much as a true friend and I will always remember him as my classmate. Sincerely, Yasmin Valles.
* A Message From Isaiah Johnson (16 yrs old)
I’ve known him since sixth-grade class and played football with him in middle school. I found out last night when one of my friends called. I was just like 'man, that's crazy.' He was cool with everybody, real laid back. It’s not fair.

Ray Paddock 26/9/1957 - 04/04/2007
