CFKInc 2006 Country Music Family Day
CFKInc Executive Committee and the Tasmanian sub-committee presented the 2nd Country Music Festival Family day on Sunday 1st October at the Port Sorell Lions Caravan Park.
We sincerely thank Rob and Aileen Donoghue and the Port Sorell Lions Club for very kindly donating their venue for the day. The Lions and Apex Clubs and the Tassie BBQ crew served great food from the BBQ, plus Ken West and Les Agar of National Security Services provided security all day.
Our special Tassie Convoy clown "PROKY" kept the kids (and adults) entertained and laughing all day long. Brett Gregory, a children's entertainer had the kids in awe. The Harley rides were a great favourite with everyone.
Our line up of Entertainment included Tassie's Own Country Singers:
Gary West, Brian Tuck, Kevin Donohue, Tony Flannery, Daniel Quail, Murray Higgs, Leigh Enniss, Gina Timms, Wayne Elloitt, Frank Sargent and Gary Tilford (backing band) and 'Strapper' as the MC for the day.
ALL Entertainers, our MC and many other people very kindly donated their time for this special day, and we would like to sincerely thank them for their support.
David Marsh (Convoy For Kids Inc assistant secretary) plus a member of the VMVC (Victorian Military Vehicle Corps) brought over his vintage military vehicle from Melbourne, plus organised other military vehicles from Tasmanian collectors for a vey interesting display on the day.

A little about Devonport
Devonport is located on the North West coast of the island of Tasmania, 100Km (60 miles) from Launceston and 280Km (170 miles) from Hobart. This city is the port for the larger of the ships linking Tasmania to the mainland and will therefore be the first glimpse many visitors will have of the island.
Driving to Devonport within Tasmania
TIME / Driving Distances
3.25Hrs From Hobart (280Km)
1 Hrs From Launceston (100Km)
1.75Hrs From Cradle Mountain (90Km)
Spectacular Coastal Views
Devonport is a lively city renown for its restaurants, galleries and craft shops so it is more than simply an entry point from which to explore the rest of Tasmania.
There are some spectacular coastal views along this part of the coast, some being accessible by footpaths leading from the town. About 5 miles to the west, a few miles after the prominently positioned Mersey Bluff Lighthouse, is a popular penguin viewing spot. There is also an airport near the town and scenic flights can be enjoyed over the rugged mountainous terrain of the north of the island.
Natural Harbour
Devonport has many heritage properties, galleries, museums and even a vintage steam train at Don Village, which conveys passengers for a short journey along to the coast. The town has developed both sides of the large natural harbour, which flows into the Mersey River.
