Tipping Etiquette in Australia
'Tipping' is not compulsory in Australia, however it is starting to gain popularity as a courtesy for good service, and at this point tourists (or locals) are not frowned upon should they choose not to tip. The trend is catching on more in the larger cities than in smaller towns. Generally, it is left to the person's own discretion, however in cafes and restaurants between 5 and 15% would be considered an average courtesy should you choose to leave a tip. As for taxi-cab drivers, again, while it is not expected, most drivers are very appreciative of those who leave the change.
